Description: The goal of this presentation is four-fold. First, the presenters will briefly review statistics, basic dynamics, and the Interpersonal Violence (IPV) cycle. Next, there will be a discussion of the interplay between IPV and the unique aspects of same sex /non-binary couples. This includes discussing the impact of gender roles, issues of perceived power/control, societal stereotypes, and barriers to reporting IPV. Third, the presenters will explore the impact of LGBT IPV on children and families. Lastly, presenters provide attendees with examples of an LGBT/IPV assessment and resources. Time for questions is provided at the end of the presentation.
